Candy Corn

Here's a quick little post today. I'm on my way out the door... heading home. Yeah!

Did you know my favorite holiday is Halloween? Do you know why? Well, not only because kids look absolutely adorable and have so much fun. But because adults have every excuse in the world to act like kids and have a blast. I'm all for acting like a kid... even if it's just one day a year. That's why I LOVE Halloween. I'm not into the spooky freaky nasty stuff... just the fun, acting like a child, eating candy part. Too fun!

So about this card. Very simple. It uses the Tasty Sweet set. I stamped the yum, yum, yum stamp in Basic Black on the bottom of the 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Tangerine Tango card. Then I layered a couple of layers-- you know how I love my layers. Then a layer of the Ghostly Greetings DSP paper. Then I stamped the Candy Corn from the set. I inked the stamp with Tangerine Tango (with a Q-tip) and Summer Sun (marker) and went around it with Basic Black Marker and stamped it on Whisper White. I punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch. Then layered it on a 1 3/8" Basic Black circle. Then on a Tangerine Tango Scallop Circle. All of that it put on with a dimensional. And for texture and fun, I added some of the MOST FABULOUS ribbon we've ever carried- the striped grosgrain In-Color ribbon in Kiwi Kiss. Love this stuff. There you have it. Fun, sweet, simple Halloween card.

Set: Tasty Sweet
Cardstock: Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Basic Black
Accessories: Summer Sun and Basic Black Marker, 1 1/4, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Ghostly Greetings DSP, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon

Pink Upsy Daisy

In the last few days of the Never Seen Before promotion, I thought I'd show you a couple of my favorite samples with one of my favorite sets from the promotion-- Upsy Daisy. This is a very simple card using a die cut from the Big Shot.

First, the card here is Regal Rose with a layer of chocolate chip DSP from the Sweet Always DSP set. For the focal point, I made a Pink Pirouette Top Notes Die with my friend Mr. Big Shot. Do you have your Big Shot yet? Anyway, then I stamped the flower image with Regal Rose craft ink onto the diecut . After letting that dry for a few minutes (or blasting it dry with your heat embossing tool) I added some white highlights with the white gel pen and some brown highlights with the Chocolate Chip marker. I stamped my greeting with Chocolate Chip in the corner. And added a little wide grosgrain Chocolate Chip ribbon for texture.

That's it. Sweet and simple card!

Set: Upsy Daisy
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose CRAFT
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Sweet Always DSP, Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, White Gel Pen, Chocolate Chip Stampin' Marker, Big Shot and Top Note Bigz Die

Spider Web

Here is another fun Halloween sample using the the Chills & Thrills rubs ons. This entire card was made with these rub ons and the Ghostly Greetings DSP and NO STAMPING... This is a very simple card that includes the spider web and the " boo" letters from the rub ons set. The card is Basic Blackwith a layer of the DSP and some Olive Twill Ribbon. Very simple and sweet indeed.

Purple Upsy Daisy

I was so shocked when Stampin' Up! right out of the gate offered the Never Before Seen promotion-- 15% off some of my favorite sets in the new catalog. These were some of the sets I had tagged as my have to have sets-- VERY COOL! The set I used for this sweet soft card, Upsy Daisy, is one of them.
I did this card with my club last night and they really enjoyed it. I took a break from the new in colors and enjoyed one of my old time favorites here-- Almost Amethyst. First I stamped the main image in Amethyst, then I took my Lavender Lace marker and added some highlights directly to the stamp. On top of that I added more highlights with the Lovely Lilac marker. Don't forget to breath on the stamp to dampen it-- it's probably pretty dry by this time-- and stamp it on your white cardstock. Then layer it on some Lovely Lilac cardstock. I stamped Thank You in Basic Black from the All Holidays set and punched it with the Small Oval Punch and added it with two of the mini lavender Rhinestone Brads.

For the card itself, I cut the top layer about an inch short and scalloped the edge with the the Scallop Edge Punch. Then I did the same with a piece of Vellum Cardstock and a piece of Lovely Lilac cardstock and layered them on the edge. Then I stamped the Canvas Background stamp in Versamark on the Amethyst card. I adhered my flowers at an angel to the card and added some White Taffeta Ribbon with a bow to finish off this soft and elegant card.

Set: Upsy Daisy, All Holidays
Ink: Versamark, Basic Black, Almost Amethyst
Cardstock: Almost Amethyst, Lovely Lilack, Vellum, Whisper White
Accessories: Rhinestone Brads, Scallop Edge, Small Oval Punch, Paper Piercer, Lovely Lilac and Lavender Lace Markers

BOO

I'm getting so in the halloween mood. I LOVE halloween and I love making fun halloween cards and gifts with sweet Stampin' Up! products. So, I've been playing. I got the new Chills & Thrills rub ons and made a couple of really cute cards (if I do say so myself) with them.

So, the basic card is black and I used the Ghostly Greetings designer paper in several places. I used the big BOO rub on and put it on the polka dot DSP and then added some of the bat rub ons that fit perfectly in the letters. Cute huh!

The build a brad (as the point on the exclamation point) has a white bat rub on on Basic Black cardstock punched out with the 1/2 inch punch. Then I added the paper piecing, but just pretend it's not on there, because I really don't like it at all! Last but not least, I added two jumbo pewter eyelets and some pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon tied at the top eyelet.

This is actually a very simple card but one of those cards that kept needing something and then something else and something else. This card took me a while until I was happy with it... but I'm very happy with it now.

Hi There

This is going to be a quick post today...
Love this new Ronald McDonald House set--- Say it with Scallops... too cute!

For this card, I stamped the HI stamp from this set in Chocolate Chip ink and then punched it out with the Square Scallop punch and then colored in the flowers with Regal Rose and Tangerine Tango. Then I mounted the image on Whisper White and adhered it to the card with dimensionals.

The card is Chocolate Chip and is layered with half Regal Rose cardstock and half with my favorite sheet of Sweet Always designer series paper. I added some White Grosgrain ribbon and a flower brad for a little extra texture.

A very simply layout. Sweet and simple!

Inspired to Scrap

You know I never scrapbook... but sometimes you just have pictures that inspire you. They make you want to create a special page for them. Well, I spent some time last month with my best friend and her family at Emerald Isle. I got to play with her kids on the beach for the weekend and had a blast. It was definitely a summer highlight! I also got a few fabulous pictures of my favorite munchkins.

When I saw these two pictures, I knew that they would be gorgeous printed without color. Then the ideas started coming. I though the Urban Garden DSP colors would be a fabulous background for the page. Definitely needed something muted and stark. And so it began on Saturday evening around 7pm. I think I've mentioned before that the reason I don't scrap is because it takes me FOREVER.
This piece is a chipboard and I can't remember the set it's from-- the holiday one. It's covered with Urban Garden and has a Rub-On from the Anchored set. The heart is also chipboard and covered with an old piece of Rose Red DSP and embellished with a piece of Old Olive Twill and a the new fancy Baha Blue button. (Sorry for a few retired things on the page. At about 2 1/2 hours... I was desperate! ) Then a little of the Kiwi Kiss Striped ribbon.

The main page is Baha Blue Textured Cardstock and the entire page is covered with the striped sheet from Urban Garden.

This little guy is framed with some Kiwi Kiss cardstock and has a chipboard star covered in Urban Garden DSP. There is a star Rub-On from Anchored and "Devak, 15 mo" is written in the star. In addition, I added the word "Beach" along the side with Build-a-Brads.

His big sister has the same effect going on, but I had to create a chipboard
flower for her by punching out two scallop flowers from cardboard and gluing them together. Then I punched out one from the Urban Garden DSP and adhered it on top. I added a Rub-On from the summer mini (sorry again) and added her name and age in the middle.

I am really happy with this page. I think it's my favorite page I've ever done actually. It should be... it took me 4 hours!
But worth every minute!

Double Scallop Square

My poor beagle Sallie has hurt her back and so I'm on doggie duty all weekend taking care of her. That means being stuck at home so if I'm home I might as well be stamping.

I spend most of Saturday evening stamping and had such a good time playing with all my NEW toys that I decided to continue doing the same today. I'll have LOTS of fun new things to share over the next couple weeks. Even a SCRAPBOOK page or two.

I'm LOVING this Hawaii Papaya designer paper. As you'll see over the next week, I've fallen in love with this color combination. For this card, I double punched the Square Scallop punch in Chocolate Chip cardstock so that it's is a long rectangle shape. Then inside I first stamped in pale Kiwi Kiss the Asian-looking stamp from Pocket Silhouettes and then did the same with the Tangerine Tango over top, doing several strengths of color, on Whisper White. Then I added a small layer of Kiwi Kiss and some of the new fabulous Tangerine Tango striped grosgrain ribbon... I love the In Color Ribbon! Then the Hawaii Papaya DSP-- (this is my favorite sheet in the series.) A layer of Chocolate Chip, a layer of Tangerine Tango and the Chocolate Chip Card. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip on Kiwi Kiss cardstock and is punched out with the Word Window punch.

LOTS of layers in this card. I'm kinda known for layers. My mom is famous for counting layers on my cards and saying "it's gonna cost a fortune to send this card!" It's not about the cost mom... it's about the card!

Set: Pocket Silhouettes

Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Hawaii Papaya DSP, Tangerine Tango Grosgrain Ribbon, Word Window and Scallop Square Punches

Butterflies Color Inspiration

So I thought I was finally on time to do one of Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenges this week. I've missed so many the last few weeks. So I did up a cute card below... and don't you know I missed the deadline. So, I'm just gonna post it anyway for your enjoyment.

Here is the color inspiration... Just for the record, I would NEVER have come up with these colors and I will probably never put them together again. But I am pretty happy with the card I came up with. I just love this cute set--- Flight of the Butterfly. It was one of the first sets in the new catalog I noticed. So, I was happy to get a chance to use it for this challenge.

This card is pretty easy breezy. I just stamped the butterfly three times... once in Rose Red, once in Kiwi Kiss and once (second stamped) in Pacific Point and then second stamped the dots in Basic Black. Last but not least, I added a little bit of dazzling diamonds around the middle of each butterfly using the two-way glue pen. Then I layered each butterfly on the coordinating cardstock. In the fourth spot, I stamped the "hope your day" saying in Basic Black and added the little flower in Regal Rose with a small clear Rhinestone Brad in the middle.

I mounted the four rectangles on Basic Black and layered that on Whisper White cardstock with a very thin border. The card itself is Basic Black and there is a 2" piece of Kiwi Kiss polka dot designer paper from the Bella Rose collection vertical on the card.

I'm sad I missed the challenge, but I love my little butterfly card... I may have to try it in my more traditional colors.

Special Card for Somone Special

I was asked to make a very special thank you card for the Dean of the School of Public Health at the University where I work. She came and spoke at one of our meetings and they wanted me to make a card for her that everyone in our office could sign. So, I made this 8x10" card using one of my new favorite designer papers, Urban Garden, and new In Colors, Baha Blue and Kiwi Kiss textured cardstock. I also wanted to try my hand at making these new flowers I found at Rebel Inkers website using the 5-Petal Flower punch. I got super carried away with these fabulous flowers. They are beautiful and so easy to make. So here is the resulting card.

A few details of the card are the multiple scalloped edges at the bottom... done with the scallop edge punch. The top mirrors the reverse of the bottom scallop edge with paper piercing.
The Rebel Inker has a great tutorial for how to make these flowers. The flowers are Almost Amythest and Baha Blue cardstock and are three different sizes. Each flower has a Build-a-Brad in the middle and it and the leaves are made with Urban Garden DSP. The leaves are made with the small oval punch and then shaped to a point with the paper snips. I also scored the leaves down the middle so that I could fold them to give them some dimension. I used a skewer to roll the petals of the 5-petal flower on the very top to give the flower texture and dimension as well.
I don't do these complicated type of projects often, but this was a special occasion and for a special person. I got to meet the Dean today.... which I really needed to do for lots of work-related reasons. She liked my card. And said she'd treasure it. Yeah, it was a good day!

Ink: Almost Amethyst, Baha Blue, Basic Black
