Kristina Werner Color Challenge

I've always wanted to do one of Kristina Werner's color challenges. She does a color challenge every week, but I alway seem to miss it because I'm at work. Well, I made it this week... and I love the colors she chose.

So, here is the image she chose for inspiration and the card I created with the colors. Some of my club members might recognize this as we did a version of it at our recent club-- only minus the Close to Cocoa, the Very Vanilla and the sponging. Let me know what you think?

Fruity Fun

I wasn't a big "Tart and Tangy" fan at first... but then I realized it was the PERFECT set to teach the scratch & sniff technique. So, like so many other things in the Occasions Mini, I had to have it, along with the Summer Picnic Designer Paper. Yikes... so much cute stuff. And, we just found out, that we can play with the goodies in the mini for an extra month. Yep, we get to use the mini until the end of JUNE instead of May. YEAH!

So, for the scratch & sniff cards. These are the ever famous flap cards, very very easy to make.

The scratch & sniff recipe is a ancient secret recipe, but since I love you all, I'll share with you. It's one part sniff and two parts clear embossing powder. Now, the sniff is the key, of course. It has to be a sugar free product such as Kool-aid or a spice or sugar free hot cocoa. You get the idea! Sugar free because you have to emboss it and heat and sugar do not mix!

So, just stamp the image in your specific ink color, then re-stamp in Versamark. Cover in the sniff recipe, emboss and scratch away for a sweet scent! Too cute huh?

Mother's Day Greetings

Sorry I've been so absent... I've been very very busy with workshops and clubs and trying to prepare for this show. I'm excited as I don't really do too many shows and this is a really big one. But I promise to be more blog conscience as well.

I've been doing a lot of mother's day cards at my clubs and workshops. Here is a card with my favorite set Always that uses some of the new In Colors-- River Rock and Groovy Guava. For the focal point of this card, I stamped the heart in River Rock and then used a Q-tip to highlight part of the image (on the stamp) with Groovy Guava (since we don't have markers in the In-Colors :-(. Then I cut the heart out, just inside the dotted line. Then I re-stamped the heart in Chocolate chip and mounted one on top of the other with dimmensionals. I used the fun Build-a-brads to make the Always embellishment. I can't get enough of the Build-a-brads. The layers of Ginger Blossom paper at the top and Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon finish off the card.
Set: Always
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Groovy Guava, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Groovy Guava
Accessories: Ginger Blossom DSP, Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon, 1/8, 1/2, 1 1/4, 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Build-a-Brad in Pewter, Dimmensionals

Photo Album Remake

Here is another project I recently made for the craft show. I found all of these fabulous little photo albums in the clearance section at Target. They were crafty looking and perfect for covering. I made a bunch. This one features one of the Occasions Mini sets Essence of Love. I didn't think I would like this set at all, but once I started to see samples on Splitcoast, I started to fall in love with it.

First, I used the the solid Teal Bali Breeze Designer Paper to cover the book. For the focal point I punched a 1 1/4" circle in scrap paper and sponged summer sun ink into the circle to create the sun. Then, I used the punch out and covered the sun and brayered Taken with Teal over the entire piece of Glossy White cardstock until I was happy with the hue I had. Then I stamped the Essence of Love image in Stazon Black over the Teal background. Then I just layered it on Summer Sun, Taken with Teal and Basic Black. And there you have it.

Craft Fair Projects

I'm working on projects for a big craft show coming up the first weekend in May and here is a sample of some of the first things I've completed. I've made a hand full of journals. None are the same... each one is a different. This one is square and is covered with Afternoon Tea paper. I took half of a Carousel Note and attached it to the rings covered with half-circle layers of paper and added some embellishments to jazz it up. Wording comes from the hostess set- Time Well Spent.

I'd love to get your thoughts.

She's Just Fabulous

I made this card for a co-worker and very good friend of mine who is about 6 months pregnant and is just blossoming. I think we ladies need to take care of each other! She's so cute and I thought this would be the perfect card for her to make her feel good. She's having a little girl so I went with pink and brown for the colors and so I just HAD to use the Berry Bliss paper then.
Set: She's all That
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Berry Bliss Designer Paper, Small Oval Punch, Chocolate Twill Ribbon, Creative Memories Cutting System
